Here are the strict rules enforced by Travers Beynon, Australia’s equivalent of Hugh Hefner, for the girlfriends residing in his lavish ‘Candy Shop Mansion’.
Travers Beynon, a 52-year-old tobacco tycoon better known as ‘The Candyman’, gained fame for his extravagant parties and numerous girlfriends at his Candy Shop Mansion.

In the past year, Beynon and his wife Taesha have dialed back their indulgent lifestyle, even putting the mansion up for sale last December as they prepared for the arrival of their son, Santiago, in June. Nevertheless, the stories of their unrestrained years will remain a part of Australian pop culture.
Beynon has openly discussed how he balances time between his wife and his many girlfriends, ensuring they all get along well. They even shared one large bed and held a weekly ‘family meal’ where cell phones were prohibited.
However, when it comes to adding new girlfriends, Beynon enforced ‘strict rules’ to maintain harmony at home.
Despite facing ‘every scenario you could think about’ over the years, he maintains, “I am always clear and never unclear about the rules” when new girlfriends join.
In a 2018 interview with LADBible, Travers Beynon, famously known as the Candyman, shared insights into the typical happenings at his Candy Shop Mansion.
“We had a party at the mansion and then we would move up to the bedroom, which has a stripper pole, mirrored ceilings, and all the lights and smoke machines, LEDs and all that,” he explained.
“She [Taesha] remembers one point where it just turned sexual and about 10 to 12 girls all jumped on me.”
“And my wife told me that she couldn’t actually see me under the pile of girls, she said it was almost like I was being eaten alive.”
“And I can tell you, there was a moment when that happened when I was able to see the ceiling, and I could see myself and I said to myself, ‘OK, I think I can go now.’ I thought, ‘If my time’s up now I can happily go.'”
“And it happened quite a few times after that so I feel pretty lucky. I’ve been waiting for the white light many times but it hasn’t come yet.”
Such a freewheeling lifestyle evidently requires some structure. Beynon noted that his background in ‘people management’ within the business sector has been invaluable in managing his complex personal life.
He elaborated: “If you’re in as a girlfriend, you’re part of the family. We have a compulsory family dinner on Sunday nights with everyone, and we all sit down we fill two large tables and I take everyone’s mobile phones and put them in another room.”
“We get takeaway because it’s our one-night takeaway we all sit there – the young kids, the older kids, the girlfriends, the wife.”
“They are forced to talk [about] the old days and that’s a pretty special night for everyone. Once we’ve finished our takeaway, we go into the cinema that I have in the mansion and all watch a movie together.”
“There’s no more fights than normal – in fact, I think that the beauty the girls have is that they’ve got a boyfriend or husband like me but also their best mates living with them.
“They enjoy that too, I think. They fight, of course, but most of the time they get on and enjoy each other’s company.”
So, how does Beynon manage to keep everyone content in such a unique living arrangement?
One of his strategies involves communal sleeping arrangements, but it’s not as cramped as one might imagine, especially not in a regular-sized home. Beynon’s setup is far from ordinary.
He detailed: “The bedroom has three large king-sized beds, I actually have another bedroom in the house which is just for me so if it ever gets too much I escape to that.”
“Managing girls who are romantically involved, emotionally involved, can be challenging but the more you do it the better you get at it.”
Managing one relationship can be challenging enough, but imagine juggling multiple at once.
One might wonder, has Beynon ever found himself in a difficult situation? (And we’re not talking about the obvious ones.)
He shared: “Every scenario you could think of has happened. It’s normal for me now but I’m so strict. I could have 10 or 20 girls here all the time but I have such strict rules so that it does work long term.”
“There have been girls who have flown from the US and the UK even and have lasted one hour – their attitude wasn’t right so off they went.”
He continued: “There have been girls who have done the wrong thing, they’ve been rude, or they want more – just me. Every scenario you could think about I’ve had to deal with.”
“I never struggle [to deal with tricky situations], I’m always clear and never unclear about the rules. My wife is my wife. And the rewards are there if you do the right thing.”
Discussing his wife Taesha’s role in his unconventional lifestyle, Beynon shared how they initially met. Taesha was 18 and working as a hostess at one of his parties.
He was upfront from the beginning: “I disclosed exactly what I was all about, how it’s going to evolve and the Candy Shop Mansion. She had disclosed to me that she kissed a lot of girls and there were often times when she would see a pretty girl in the street and she would text me about the girl.”
It’s clear the dynamics were set early in their relationship.
“She was certainly into girls so that was a big help,” he added. “There was a lot of fun to have and I can be quite creative in bed, so I suppose that helps.”
“I think at the end of the day, she was secure in the fact that she was the wife, and there’s more to that than just a pretty girl coming along. She enjoys the parties and the other girls.”
“We all sleep in the same bed, and we are sexually all together. It’s all together – that’s one way of keeping it under control.”
“I’m very picky – we’ve had girls from Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Europe, Turkey, the UK, and what happens is they apply, I look at their looks and they have to write a description about why they would be a good girlfriend.”
“Then we do a FaceTime so we can actually see what they really look like, because there’s a lot of clever programs out there that can make girls look a lot different than they really are,” he explained, highlighting his caution about digital enhancements like Photoshop or AI tricks.
Beynon also detailed his process for integrating new girlfriends into his lifestyle: “I do fly them from anywhere in the world, I will either fly them to Australia or where I am overseas and then we go through a process, a trial period.”
When asked if this was similar to a job interview, he responded with a chuckle, “That’s one way to put it,” and likened it more to “probably more like online dating.”
So, if this unconventional living arrangement sounds appealing (and you’re interested in a bustling, cohabited bedroom scene in Australia), you might consider applying.
Just remember, Beynon insists on authenticity, so no filters allowed.
