“One day (he) parked himself on someone’s front porch and stayed there for about 6 weeks until they decided they couldn’t care for him anymore,” Tegan explained to Love Meow.
And so, the people who found him decided to bring him over the shelter.
At the shelter, this very sad looking cat was so lonely and depressed that he made sure he was always completely hidden from everyone. He would just back himself into his cage and sit in there with this sad expression on his face all day long!
That’s when Tegan entered his life.
“He was at the shelter for about two weeks before I came in. I was actually there with my local roller derby team, to take some photos of the adoptable animals and do a sort of cross-advertisement with them. But within a few minutes, I looked at him, so sad in his little cage, and I knew.”
And so, Tegan asked if she would be able to see this cat.
“When they let me take him in the visitation room, he sneezed a few times. So I knew he was a little sick and I had to be the one to take him home and get him better.”
“I’m so glad I did.”
She gave him the name of Gusgus and decided to adopt him!
To Tegan, It was obvious why this gorgeous boy appeared to be so sad in the shelter. What kitty would even want to be in a shelter?
“He had one of those kitty colds that they get at the shelter and even a tapeworm… He was very sick and confused for a bit, from the stress of going to the shelter and then to a new home. We got all of that fixed up for him. He has been my little shadow around my apartment ever since”, Tegan went on to explain to Love Meow.
It didn’t take more than just a few days for the sadness to disappear from Gusgus’s face and he was suddenly out of his sad, sad shell!
Suddenly, Gusgus had all sort of newfound energy and enthusiasm to live, love and be happy!
“He follows me everywhere, and loves laying on his favorite blanket (the red one in the picture) next to me on the couch.”
“He is such a lovable little goofball.”
Just look at those big gorgeous ginger paws!
“This snuggly little goofball captured my heart almost exactly two years ago, and I’ve loved him ever since.”
All thanks to the one person in the world who saw something special in a cat’s sad face, Gusgus has flourished into a brand new cat!
“He has brought me so much joy.”
