Canine Foster Uncle Excitedly Greets ‘Cow and Chicken’ Kittens Each Morning

Kittens often seem to know where to find good people, which is why we often see the ubiquitous phrase “cat distribution system.” Fortunately, they seem to instinctively choose the right people to help them. In Florida, some heroic folks can’t resist their tiny mews, even when they come from a ‘Cow’ and ‘Chicken.’

A Cow and Chicken Turn Up in a Florida Yard?

Recently, more than a few kittens turned up in one yard in Palm Beach County. Perhaps they sensed the presence of kind-hearted individuals, so that’s where they sought refuge. A feral mother cat, demonstrating her resourcefulness, chose this spot to give birth. For weeks, rescuers attempted to capture the little family, but the mama’s cunning prevented her from falling into their trap.

Undeterred by the challenges, the rescuers ensured the mother was nourished so she could care for her babies, later named Cow and Chicken. (After the 90s cartoon series.)

Corralling the Yardbirds

Thankfully, the kittens were robust and healthy, thriving with their mother’s care. However, the time eventually came to corral these ‘yardbirds’ before they took on their mother’s wild nature. If not captured, they would most likely face a brutal existence full of endless dangers outside.

While continuing the search for the feral mama, the babies went to a wonderful foster home. Not to mention, someone was excitedly anticipating meeting them for the first time.

“Fresh catch 🤍 Welcome Cow and Chicken 🖤,” shared Kelly Rooney. “Animals definitely know where the good people are ✨.”

Growing Up in the Colorful World

This duo lived up to their names, like furry cartoon creatures who played away the day. From the start, Chicken was a little bit shy, as his name implied. It took some time for Chicken to warm up to his foster mom and a new friend, a pup named Kylo. The resident gentle giant Husky and foster uncle was once a surrendered foster himself.

After being permanently adopted by the family, Kylo quickly became a valuable part of all the foster kittens’ socializing. As soon as Cow and Chicken arrived, he knew they were there and couldn’t wait to meet them!

“Kylo is back to full Papa Bear mode now that there’s babies in the house.  He waits outside the bathroom for me to make sure he doesn’t miss a thing!”

At first, the kittens were understandably skeptical of Kylo’s intentions.

“Cow and Chicken are not too sure yet but they’re getting there!”

Once the kittens came to expect a visit from Kylo each day, they welcomed him.

By learning this way, they had much better chances of finding a loving home where a dog might become their future sibling.

The Kittens Take to the Sky with New Friends

It’s always bittersweet, but this Cow and Chicken were ready to find a new pasture, although how could it be more fun?

But after all the love they had experienced, they were ready to share it with a new family. They traveled to begin a new adventure, carried by a team of Southwest Airlines employees. The wonderful volunteers from SWAP Transportation and Rescue transport pets like Cow and Chicken by using their flight benefits. How incredible is that?

The babies found a home so fast, but what would Kylo do? Don’t worry; it wasn’t long before he was once more smitten with kittens.
