Kira Pierson adopted Marcus from the Animal Friends Humane Society in Hamilton, Ohio, about three years ago, and they’ve been best friends ever since.
Pierson told The Dodo, “He has absolutely transformed my life.” “Before him, I’d never had a pet, and he’s turned me into an animal lover.”
Marcus is a very lively cat, but he can also be obstinate and like to do things on his terms.
“He’s incredibly lively, but he’s picky about when he wants to play,” Pierson added. “When he doesn’t want to play, he walks away and falls asleep across the room from me.”
Being outside is one of Marcus’ favorite pastimes. His parents purchased him a leash so he can go for walks on occasion, and he also has his own small catio where he can spend time securely enjoying the great outdoors. Of course, it’s never enough for Marcus, and he’s always seeking for ways to spend even more time outside.
Pierson recently chose to paint her front door and walked outdoors to complete the task – without Marcus. Marcus was clearly not a fan of being left out, and not long into the painting process, he found a way to let his mom know just how he felt about her being outdoors without him.
“I was painting outside for approximately 10 minutes before I noticed him,” Pierson explained.
Pierson couldn’t help but giggle when she noticed Marcus’ small head at the window, with a grumpy expression on his face. He locked his gaze on her, thinking that his rage would compel her to open the door and allow him out — but it didn’t work.
“He was at the window for about three minutes before deciding he had other things to do,” Pierson explained.
Marcus eventually left the window, but that doesn’t mean he stopped trying to find out how to get what he wants.
