According to royal sources, an exquisite item worn by Princess Diana on her wedding day is being reserved for Charlotte by Palace officials. The nine-year-old is reportedly well aware of this special heirloom.
Princess Charlotte is anticipated to inherit Princess Diana’s cherished heirloom, rather than Lilibet Diana.
GoodToKnow reports that Palace sources have disclosed that Charlotte, now seven years old, will have “the pick of the palace jewels” when she comes of age.
This is due to the fact that her father, Prince William, 42, is next in line for the throne, and she is the only daughter in his and Kate Middleton’s family.
The insider mentioned that two specific pieces are already being considered for her.
One of these pieces is believed to be the stunning Spencer Tiara, which Lady Diana famously wore on her wedding day to King Charles on July 29, 1981.
This exquisite headpiece had been part of the Spencer family for nearly a century before Diana’s wedding, and it had also been worn by her two older sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, on their wedding days.
Instead of borrowing one of the Queen’s tiaras for the ceremony, as Meghan Markle did in 2018, Diana chose to wear the family heirloom.
The tiara was partially crafted from a wedding gift given in 1919 by Lady Sarah Spencer to Lady Cynthia Hamilton, Diana’s grandmother, for her marriage to Viscount Althorp. Additional jewels from the Spencer family’s collection were also incorporated into the design.
Reports indicate that discussions are already in progress to secure the tiara, currently held by Diana’s youngest brother, Charles, 9th Earl Spencer, for young Charlotte.
A source informed GoodToKnow: “William is quite aware the earl has daughters of his own, but the two have agreed that Diana’s iconic piece belongs to her first granddaughter.”
In an exclusive interview with Australian magazine New Idea, a different royal insider revealed that Charlotte is aware of the tiara through her studies about her grandmother Diana and is eagerly looking forward to trying it one day.
“Lotte knows all about her ‘Granny Diana’ – after all, Diana is one of her middle names. She’s also seen pictures of her wearing the tiara.”
However, she may have to wait until her own wedding to wear it, as tradition typically requires that brides debut the piece on their wedding day.
It has also been revealed that fortunate Charlotte is on track to become the wealthiest member of the Royal Family and a billionaire.
She could potentially amass a staggering £3.6 billion in the future.
